About Melody

Dr Melody Lin enjoys a versatile career as a Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner, flautist and pedagogue. She has been the Principal Flute of the Manukau Symphony Orchestra for more than 10 years. She regularly performs with orchestras around Auckland and has joined the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra on national tours. As a concerto soloist, Melody has performed with the East-West Philharmonic Orchestra Sydney, both the University of Auckland Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, and featured in three concerto appearances with the Manukau Symphony Orchestra. Melody enjoyed performing with many aspiring artists in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan.

Melody is an experienced and passionate flute teacher. She has taught flute, chamber music and flute ensemble at the University of Auckland for 10 years.  She is also a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner since 2019. Melody frequently gives Feldenkrais workshops and classes to musicians of all ages, including the University of Auckland Musician's Health lecture, the Albany Music School, the Remuera Music School, the Pettman National Junior Academy of Music, and the Flute Festival Waiheke. 

A native of Taiwan, Melody moved to Australia with her family in the late 90’s. She graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Performance and furthered her studies at the University of Auckland with Professor Uwe Grodd, gaining a Master of Music with First Class Honours in 2007 and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2011. She currently runs a busy private studio teaching both Feldenkrias Method and flute in Auckland, New Zealand.
